As an agency with a strong pedigree in the kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms sector, we like to keep an eye on the latest innovations and industry trends. While the bathroom has long been a hub for practical design, 2024 has been a year of groundbreaking innovations.

From toilets that fold into the wall, to mirrors which give you a workout, there has been a host of new products that have transformed the way we think about our bathrooms.  Here’s a rundown of some of our favourites from 2024:

Foldaway Toilet from Hidealoo

Who knew it was possible to make a toilet exciting? Well, Hidealoo has managed it. Designed for small spaces or modern, minimalist bathrooms, this toilet folds neatly into the wall, creating a sleek, unobtrusive look. Deservedly winning the KBB innovation award 2024, this product folds into a cabinet or cavity space making it perfect for anyone looking to maximise limited bathroom space.

Envi from Triton Showers

The Envi shower from Triton introduces smart technology to the bathroom with its ability to create personal profiles for each user. This product ties in perfectly with the rise of the “Spathroom” (spa bathroom) as it allows you to save preferred temperature, water flow, and even lighting settings, ensuring every shower is perfectly suited to your preferences. The product also displays the running cost at the end of each shower, to help with energy consumption.

Workout Mirror from Magic AI

This entry is a wildcard as it is more of a bathroom-adjacent product, but it indicates an important trend as the smart mirror market is set to rise by 8% by 2033. Manufacturers have been incorporating smart mirrors with more and more technology over recent years – from TV screens to voice activation, anti-fog technology to mindfulness prompts. Magic AI was named one of the TIME best inventions of the year for 2024 and rightly so. It is a dedicated workout mirror which offers hyper-personalised, on-demand training. Powered by ReflectAI®, users can enjoy real-time rep counting, form correction, and weight guidance. It isn’t cheap, but for those who want to have a PT and gym at home, it could be a game changer.

Biophilic Beauty from Johnson Tiles

Bathroom trends this year have centred around biophilic designs, with many of us looking for ways to bring the outside, in. Johnson Tiles have launched a host of new product designs in 2024 which make this a breeze – from their Skyline Marble, Padma Stone or the palette of their Barbrook range, with colourways inspired by the natural world, including leafy greens and ocean blues. Each of these ranges has been created with excellent attention to detail, including tactile surfaces and swirling vein finishes which enhance depth and dimension. These tiles provide the perfect backdrop to turn your bathroom into a restorative nature-inspired escape.

Aquaclean Alba from Gebreit

This wall-mounted shower toilet won a prestigious Red Dot Award in 2024 and features the patented WhirlSpray shower spray. The TurboFlush flushing technology, the rimless bowl and the absence of corners and edges also ensure easy cleaning. This product integrates with the Gebreit Home app to start the shower function and control other settings such as the water temperature, spray intensity or shower arm position. Although this is an entry-level product in the Gebreit range, it combines understated design with practicality and the latest in remote operation.

Everstream Showers from Grohe

These groundbreaking water-recycling showers have changed the game when it comes to sustainable bathroom innovation. The new product automatically collects, hygienically treats and recirculates water while maintaining the desired temperature and water pressure. Grohe say the system will use as little as a quarter of the water and a third of the energy normally required for a shower, meaning it has some serious sustainability credentials.

Numi 2.0 Smart Toilet – Kohler

This brand deserves a shout out for its integration of smart technology into a myriad of bathroom products. However, our favourite innovation from them this year is the Numi 2.0. This smart toilet features a self-cleaning wand, LED lighting, adjustable water pressure, and a heated seat with customisable settings. With motion-activated features, a warm-air drying system, and automatic deodorisation, the Numi 2.0 is an exciting glimpse into the future of bathroom design boasting gadgetry even Q would be proud of.

NU taps from Roca

This colourful collection brings art to the bathroom. According to Roca, the range represents “a synthesis of essential design elements”, marrying form, shape and colour. Featuring three different designs, the taps are “dyed” in six glossy colours inspired by Roca’s Mediterranean heritage: green, blue, yellow, black, white and chrome. These streamlined and stylish taps act as sculptural features which grab attention and can create drama in any bathroom.
